It’s 90 days until Christmas and this is the time to get it to-geth-er so you can actually enjoy the festive season.
I’ve just updated our Small Biz Guide from 2021 — which is now simply the DigiKind Gift Guide. Have a look and if you’d like to be featured, join our Be DigiKind Movement. Inspired by Adam Grant’s concept of creating a community of givers, we are changing the game on gifting for Christmas.
History of the Guide
On SmallBizSaturday 2021, we wanted to create a different kind of gifting guide that reflected our values. As a #smallbiz100 ourselves, we wanted to celebrate supporting local, and to reclaim Black Friday. We believe that there are many ways we can all be sustainable, ethical consumers and purpose-driven businesses and organisations – as a consulting agency, we do this by supporting Business Improvement Districts and local government organisations to help them rejuvenate their local economies by building strong communities.
We believe in putting people, planet and purpose first and that profits will follow.
We are working together to support our local communities to be resilient, no matter what challenges come our way. We created this guide for Small Business Saturday 2021 and have been adding our favourite places to gift and give ever since. The first version of our guide looked like this, and we are working on building a more interactive platform. This is our next iteration.
We believe that celebrations, gifting experiences and gifting in general should always start personally, locally and with independent makers, mentoring organisations, and non-profits that are transforming their communities through digital innovation. Making that shift from buying from a multinational corporation to supporting local is an every day act that must start with all of us.
We are dedicated to helping rejuvenate our local communities, personally and professionally, by creating a digital ecosystem that is supported by people who love it and nurture it, support each other, empower each other, and champion their local. Once people start to have those “ah-ha” moments – realising that making the local investment is making an investment in themselves, we all win.
So the Small Biz Gifting Guide was born.
We are proud to support our local communities, purpose-driven organisations and British businesses. This also includes creating a cyclical economy. We have added this new section to the guide this year as we work hard to go carbon neutral – or even positive.
Our guide is our round up of some of the innovative small businesses, non-profits, councils, business improvement districts and well, superstars we’ve been fortunate enough to meet in over the past few years. If we’ve missed anyone, please help us to add your favourites to our guide. Let’s grow it and add to it.
We hope you will join us by visiting the profiles we have shared, liking what you see, and sharing our gift giving guide. Our guide is organised into the following sections in the navigation bar:
-
Local Swap – Join our Upcycling, Recycling and Cyclical Economy (new section!)
We believe gifting can be more than buying things – it can be donating time, mentoring, volunteering and more.
